Phase 2 of the sitting of the Working Group on Development, Environment, Agriculture, Democracy & Governance of the Policy Unit of the IYC commenced this Month.
This Phase will be centered on the following developmental themes: Education and Health. How can we better Education and Health in our world especially in developing countries. How can we help in eradicating illiteracy in our world. We live in a world where Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) have even removed barriers of language and distance. Can we utilize ICTs effectively in eradicating illiteracy in our world, and through increased sensitization of the Global populace create a safer, better informed and more tolerant world? How can we eradicate for instance Malaria, which alone kills about a million people every year, about 200 million of the world's population are affected globally, mostly hit is sub-Saharan Africa. What can we do to prevent needless deaths of children under the age of 5 who die from Malaria every minute?!!!
Our ideas will be targeted to carving out initiatives to solve these problems and doing so whilst allowing it reflect the envisions of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and the Post 2015 Development Agenda respectively. Our recommendations will be seen as part of the IYC policy.
This sitting (Phase 2) is expected to be concluded in February 2014.
