Statement of Purpose and Constitution of The IYC USA Global Issues Department
The purpose of this department is to take issues regarding sustainable development and the advancement of nations, and break them down into segments that can be properly analyzed and dealt with by the members of the international community. The Department of Global Issues aims to inform the general public about problems facing the world today, so that they will be able to handle them in their own domains.
Article I: Organization & Membership
Section 1. This department will be split into teams, which will focus on issues and topics assigned to them.
Section 2. Each team shall have a chairperson, these chairpersons are high-level International Youth Council members, and officers under the director of the Global Issues Department.
Section 3. Membership for each team is open to anyone and everyone who would like to join, unless chairperson has good reason to state otherwise.
Section 4. Each team is allowed an indefinite amount of members.
Section 5. No member may be a chairperson of more than one team.
Article II: Coordination & Responsibility
Section 1. Each Chairperson is fully responsible for the work done by their team, unless otherwise stated by the Director of Global Issues, or the National Chair.
Section 2. Teams may facilitate research and events with each other.
Section 3. At the end of an assignment, or a period of research, chairpersons must give a summary of their findings to the Director of Global Issues.
Section 4. Deadlines may not be imposed by the Director of Global Issues, unless stated otherwise by the National Chair.
Section 5. The Director of Global Issues may call special meetings as necessary. If chairpersons wish for a meeting between teams, they shall contact the Director first, allowing a suitable amount of time for all chairpersons to be contacted.

Section 1. Members of each team must not hold events at random under the name of the Global Issues Department, unless otherwise stated by their team chairperson.
Section 2. Any chairperson with an inactivity period of 2 months will be replaced, unless Director is contacted with a reason.
Article IV: Constitutional Motions
Section 1. A constitutional motion is hereby defined as any motion to add, suspend, or revise the constitution or any part thereof.
Section 2. All constitutional motions shall be effected provided that:
a) Two-thirds majority of chairpersons approve the motion.
b)No chairperson is left out of the voting process
Section 3. Amendments to the constitution must be added as soon as possible following the day they are approved.
